How AI moderated research works, from question to findings

AI moderated research works in three steps. You describe what you want to learn, you send one link to your own customers, and an AI moderator talks to each of them and follows up on their answers. You then read themes with quotes from the conversations, with no calendar to manage in between.

How do you each decide what to read first?

I start with whatever my manager forwards.

Does anyone here do it differently?

I only read what has a number in the title.

Quote from the interview

“I knew it was in there somewhere, so I gave up and asked a colleague.”

  1. 1

Write what you want to learn

You start with two things: what you want to learn and who you are talking to. Moderators turns them into a research guide with goals, questions and follow-ups. You can edit the guide before anything goes out, so the study asks what you need and nothing else.

  2. 2

    Share one link

Each study has one link. You send it to the customers you want to hear from, by email, inside your product or in a message. Participants open it whenever it suits them and talk to the AI moderator by chat or by voice. You invite the people yourself, because Moderators has no respondent panel and does not recruit participants. Team and higher plans let you use a custom-branded link.

  3. 3

    Read the findings

As conversations finish, the answers are grouped into themes, and every theme comes with quotes from the participants. You read what people said in their own words and can go back to the full transcript behind any quote.

How does the moderator follow up

The moderator works from your guide but does not read it out like a form. It listens to each answer and decides what to do next: ask for an example, ask why, or move to the next question. The follow-up depends on what the participant said, which is what a good human moderator does. The ai moderated interviews page goes deeper on the interview itself.

Chat or voice

A participant can type or, in the paid plans, talk. Each plan has a monthly limit of chat interviews and voice minutes. You choose the format that suits the question and the people you invite. The demo on the home page runs as text.

What the participant sees

Participants see a simple page with the moderator's questions. There is nothing to install and no account to create on their side.

Customer interviews Pricing clarity

What almost made you stop before you bought?

The price page. I could not tell what we would pay.

What did you do next?

Asked a colleague who had bought it before.

Themes with quotes

Each study returns the main themes and the quotes that support them. That lets you see which points came up often and what people actually said about them, instead of reading a summary with no source.

Your own repository of findings

On the Scale plan, a findings repository keeps past studies together, so you can return to earlier results. The features page lists everything included in a study.

Which questions suit this method

AI moderated research suits questions you would ask in a customer interview: why people chose you, why they left, how they use a feature, what they think of a concept. It also runs usability tests and AI focus groups. See the ai focus groups page for the group format.

What it costs

Plans start at $99 a month, or $49.50 a month billed annually. At the Team limit, $249 divided by 400 chat interviews is about 62 cents per interview. All prices are on the ai moderator pricing page.
