User research platforms that conduct the interviews themselves

User research platforms tend to organise research: recruiting, scheduling, storage. Moderators conducts it, and that is the whole difference. AI moderators interview your own users in chat or voice, probe each answer and return findings with quotes, so the part of research that eats calendars happens without one.

How do you each decide what to read first?

I start with whatever my manager forwards.

Does anyone here do it differently?

I only read what has a number in the title.

Quote from the interview

“Nothing told me if I had done it right.”

7 of 40 interviews

Where does research time actually go?

Scheduling, moderating, transcribing, tagging and writing up. Moderating is the step people forget to count, because it feels like the real work. But a researcher sitting through 20 interviews is spending days on the part that can follow a guide, and keeping their judgement for choosing questions and reading results.

So what does Moderators handle?

The whole loop after you decide the question. It builds the guide, holds each conversation, follows up on vague answers, stores the transcript and groups themes with their quotes. The researcher stays in charge of the question, the guide edits and the interpretation. Open the feature overview to see each stage.

How does a team share the work?

Seats are included in every plan: 1 on Starter, 5 on Team and 15 on Scale. Team adds a custom-branded link so respondents see your name, not ours. Scale adds a findings repository where earlier studies remain searchable, which helps when someone asks in March what customers said in October. Scale also includes API access.

What about control and review?

Enterprise adds SSO, roles, SLA, invoices and data retention controls for organisations that need an approval trail. Read what we say about handling interview data on the security page.

Is it only for product teams?

No. Insights teams, UX researchers and agencies use the same loop. See insights teams for a view from that side.

Recruiting and panels

Moderators has no participant panel and does not recruit. You invite people with your own link. For a team that studies its own customers, this is the better arrangement because every interview comes from someone with a real relationship to the product. For a team that needs strangers matched to a profile, another source of participants is needed first, and Moderators can then run the conversations.

What does each plan include?

Billing is annual by default at 50 percent off monthly. There is no free plan, and limits used within a period do not reset.

  • Starter. $99/month, $49.50/month billed annually. 100 chat interviews, 120 voice minutes, 1 seat.
  • Team. $249/month, $124.50/month billed annually. 400 chat interviews, 300 voice minutes, 5 seats, custom-branded link.
  • Scale. $599/month, $299.50/month billed annually. 1,000 chat interviews, 750 voice minutes, 15 seats, findings repository, API.
  • Enterprise. $1,499/month, $749.50/month billed annually. 2,500 chat interviews, 1,800 voice minutes, SSO, roles, SLA, invoices, data retention controls.

Dividing $1,499 by 2,500 chat interviews gives about 60 cents per interview at the Enterprise limit. The same breakdown is on the pricing page, and answers to common questions are in the FAQ.

Put the next study on a link

Write the question, share the link and read the themes. No card is required to try the interview.
