User interview software for the whole interview workflow

User interview software should cover the work around the interview as well as the call itself: the guide, the invitations, the conversation, the transcript and the synthesis. Moderators handles all of it with an AI moderator that interviews your own users by chat or voice and returns themes with quotes. You supply the question and the people.

How do you each decide what to read first?

I start with whatever my manager forwards.

Does anyone here do it differently?

I only read what has a number in the title.

Where does the time actually go?

The conversation is often the shortest part. Before it, someone writes the guide and chases a calendar. After it, someone transcribes, rereads, tags and writes a summary. A team that wants twelve interviews can spend more hours on the edges than on listening. Software earns its place by taking those edges off your plate.

What does Moderators take over?

The guide, the hosting, the follow-up questions, the transcript and the first pass at synthesis. What it leaves with you is the part only you can do: deciding what to ask and deciding what the findings mean for your product.

How does a project run?

  1. Write the learning goal and describe your participants in a sentence each.
  2. Review the guide Moderators drafts and adjust any question.
  3. Copy your link and send it by email, in-app message or support reply.
  4. Participants answer whenever they choose, by chat or voice.
  5. Read the themes, open the quotes, and check the transcripts you care about.

How long does it take?

Most of the elapsed time is waiting for people to respond, and that no longer depends on a calendar. Participants answer in parallel, so twenty conversations can finish in the time it takes your customers to reply.

Do you provide interview participants?

No. Moderators is not a recruiting service and has no panel. You send the link to customers you already know, which is usually what a product team wants for questions about its own users. If you need strangers matched to a profile, you would recruit them elsewhere and send them the same link.

Why is that an advantage?

There is no recruitment fee per head and no screener to write. Your own customers care about your product, they have real histories with it and they are easy to reach. The cost of the study is the plan you already pay for.

  • Invite by email, inside your product or from a support thread.
  • Use a custom-branded link on the Team plan and above so the invitation looks like it came from you.
  • Share one guide with several segments and compare the answers.

What do you do with the findings?

Pull quotes into a product brief, drop a theme into a roadmap review, or share a read-only summary with a stakeholder. Seats scale with the plan, from one on Starter to fifteen on Scale, so a team can read the same evidence together. The AI moderated interviews page explains what happens inside a single conversation, and the customer interview questions post helps you write a better guide.

What does the software cost per interview?

Annual billing is the default and takes 50% off. There is no free plan, and a used limit does not return within the period.

  • Starter: $99/month, $49.50/month billed annually. 100 chat interviews, 120 voice minutes, 1 seat.
  • Team: $249/month, $124.50/month billed annually. 400 chat interviews, 300 voice minutes, 5 seats, custom-branded link.
  • Scale: $599/month, $299.50/month billed annually. 1,000 chat interviews, 750 voice minutes, 15 seats, findings repository, API.
  • Enterprise: $1,499/month, $749.50/month billed annually. 2,500 chat interviews, 1,800 voice minutes, SSO, roles, SLA, invoices, data retention controls.

Starter works out to 99 cents per interview when its 100 chat interviews are all used at the monthly price. See the full pricing page.
