Market research platforms that run the interviews for you

Market research platforms usually bundle a respondent panel, a survey tool and a reporting layer. Moderators covers a different part of the job: AI moderators interview your own customers in chat or voice and return findings with quotes. It has no panel, so it fits when you already know whom you want to hear from and need the depth a survey cannot give.

Here is the idea. What is your first reaction?

Useful, but I would not pay for it on its own.

What would make it worth paying for?

If it filled in the weekly numbers for me.

“I would recommend it, once someone else has set it up.”

What do market research platforms actually do?

Broadly, they do three things. They find respondents, they collect answers, and they summarise what came back. Platforms differ mostly in which of the three they do well. Some are strongest at reaching strangers at scale. Others are strongest at capturing open-ended answers. Moderators sits in the second group and is explicit about the first: you bring the people.

Which question should you ask before you buy?

Ask whether you need new people or better answers from people you already reach. A company with a customer list, a trial base or a community already has respondents. What it lacks is the time to talk to them. In that case a panel is an expense you do not need, and the useful feature is a moderator that scales.

How does an AI interview differ from a survey?

A survey asks everyone the same fixed questions. An interview adapts. When a respondent says price was a concern, the moderator asks compared to what, since when and what would have changed the decision. Those follow-ups are where market insight lives, and they are what a form cannot do. See the full list of features.

What do you receive at the end?

Full transcripts, themes ranked across all conversations and the quotes behind each theme. You can check any claim against the original wording, which makes the findings easier to defend in front of a sceptical stakeholder. Larger plans add a findings repository so earlier studies stay searchable.

Where does it not replace a classic platform?

If your study depends on a representative sample of strangers, or on quotas by age and region, you need a panel and Moderators will not supply one. If your study depends on understanding your own market segments in depth, interviews with your customers are the direct route. Teams that serve other companies may want to look at market research software for agencies.

How do you start a study?

Write what you want to learn and who you are talking to. Moderators drafts the guide, and you edit it. Share one link by email, in a newsletter or inside your product. Interviews run on the respondent's schedule, so a hundred conversations can finish in the same week they start.

Can several people work in the same account?

Yes. Starter has 1 seat, Team 5 and Scale 15. Enterprise adds roles, SSO and invoices for organisations that need controls over who sees what.

What does it cost compared to running studies yourself?

Annual billing is the default and takes 50 percent off the monthly price. There is no free plan, and an exhausted limit does not return within the period.

  • Starter is $99/month, or $49.50/month billed annually, with 100 chat interviews, 120 voice minutes and 1 seat.
  • Team is $249/month, or $124.50/month billed annually, with 400 chat interviews, 300 voice minutes, 5 seats and a custom-branded link.
  • Scale is $599/month, or $299.50/month billed annually, with 1,000 chat interviews, 750 voice minutes, 15 seats, a findings repository and API.
  • Enterprise is $1,499/month, or $749.50/month billed annually, with 2,500 chat interviews, 1,800 voice minutes, SSO, roles, SLA, invoices and data retention controls.

The arithmetic is open: $599 divided by 1,000 chat interviews is about 60 cents per interview at the Scale limit. The pricing page lists every limit.
