User testing platform that talks to your users for you

Moderators is a user testing platform built around conversation. You write what you want to learn, share one link with your own users, and an AI moderator interviews each of them in chat or voice, asks the follow-up questions and returns findings with quotes. You learn why people hesitate or give up, not only where they clicked.

How do you each decide what to read first?

I start with whatever my manager forwards.

Does anyone here do it differently?

I only read what has a number in the title.

Quote from the interview

“Setup took two days and nobody had time.”

What should a user testing platform tell you?

A test is useful when it ends in a decision. Most teams already know a page loses people. What they lack is the reason, in the user's own words. Moderators is designed to produce that reason: a ranked list of themes, each backed by quotes pulled from the transcripts, so you can paste a line into a ticket and point at it in a meeting.

How does a session with the AI moderator work?

The moderator follows your research guide but does not read it like a form. When a user says the setup felt confusing, it asks what they expected to see, what they tried next and what they would have done in a quiet moment with no one watching. Every answer is stored as a transcript, and the themes are built across all sessions, not one at a time.

What does it not do?

Moderators does not record screens, draw heatmaps or track clicks. It is a conversational platform, so it fits questions about understanding, expectations, trust and motivation. If you need to know why a flow fails, you describe the flow in the guide, ask users to try it in your product, and have the moderator talk through what happened.

How do you run a test with your own users?

You write one sentence about what you want to learn and one about who you are talking to. Moderators turns that into a guide with goals, questions and follow-ups, which you can edit. You then share a single link by email, in your app or in a message. Users answer when it suits them, so there is no calendar to coordinate. Read more on how the process works and in the feature list.

Where do the testers come from?

From you. Moderators has no respondent panel and does not recruit anyone. You invite customers, trial users or churned accounts with your own link. The upside is that you hear from people who actually use or considered your product, rather than paid testers playing a role.

Voice or chat?

Both are available on paid plans. Chat suits quick checks and users on the move. Voice suits longer explanations, where tone and hesitation tell you as much as the words. The plan limits count each separately, listed below.

Which teams get the most from it?

Product managers validating a redesign before engineering starts, UX researchers who need more sessions than a calendar allows, and founders who want to hear ten customers this week. If your work is closer to design research, see UX research; for moderated sessions in general, see moderated usability testing.

What does the platform cost?

Plans are billed annually by default at half the monthly price. There is no free plan, and a limit used up within a period does not roll back.

  • Starter costs $99/month, or $49.50/month billed annually, and includes 100 chat interviews, 120 voice minutes and 1 seat.
  • Team costs $249/month, or $124.50/month billed annually, and includes 400 chat interviews, 300 voice minutes, 5 seats and a custom-branded link.
  • Scale costs $599/month, or $299.50/month billed annually, and includes 1,000 chat interviews, 750 voice minutes, 15 seats, a findings repository and API access.
  • Enterprise costs $1,499/month, or $749.50/month billed annually, and includes 2,500 chat interviews, 1,800 voice minutes, SSO, roles, SLA, invoices and data retention controls.

At the Team limit, $249 divided by 400 chat interviews is about 62 cents per interview. Compare the plans in detail on the pricing page.
